PhpRedis instead of Predis
Predis was discontinued by dev, and most hostings nowadays are using PhpRedis (5.x mostly), so it would be logical to have it on Local WP so we can test the most similar environment locally.
Using Local for other CMS
Being able to use Local to set up other CMS installs in a more direct or automatic manner would be incredible. You can certainly do it now but it's clunky and a bit of a pain. I've been working a bit more with clients using Craft and a couple of others. Thanks!
Change the name!
“Local” is a terrible name for a web software product for these reasons: It’s confusing to talk with support about “My local site (could mean a wide range of things)” vs “My *Local* (the program) site” It’s impossible to google for general help “Local site not working” “Can’t upload local site” is useless in terms of specificity. No way to tell google you’re referring to Local *the program* The word “local” seems to interfere with some Apple Bonjour networking stuff, which natively uses “.local” I’ve heard of and had problems making things work properly for that reason alone, specifically with external services like liveReload and CodeKit not being able to play nicely with “mywebsite.local” It needs a unique, google-able name. It’s in branding limbo now, being a former Flywheel product that’s still branded to match Flywheel, that now works (sort of) with WP Engine but has no WPE branding. At some point it needs a heavy identity rethink, and that would be the perfect time to change the name!
Add option to disable Cache Buster
A simple checkbox allowing users to disable this feature would help devs to test their own redirections. P.S. - CacheBuster is actually creating redirection to /wp-admin/ wich is annowy for someone who have a Multisite and want to be redirected to /wp-admin/network/ per example.
Sync sites using Dropbox
It would be nice to move away from MAMP the only reason I still use it is because I can sync my sites between computers using dropbox with ease. This is a feature that has been ask for over and over again in the forums.
Use site favicon in sidebar
The favicon could make sorting through sites much easier. Local could cache the current theme path and whether a favicon exists there or was set in WordPress.
